Expertise
Sam obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Griffith University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law. After working as a law clerk and paralegal in criminal and family law, she was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2016.
She has worked in both private practice and community-based legal services, where she gained extensive experience representing clients in appeals, trials, sentence proceedings, bail applications, domestic violence hearings, and disciplinary proceedings throughout Queensland. She firmly believes in access to justice and strives to deliver exceptional service to her clients.
Although Sam has primarily focused on criminal defence work since her admission, she has significant experience handling domestic violence and traffic matters, as well as regulatory proceedings.
As the head of our parole team, Sam has a particular interest in assisting clients beyond the finalisation of their criminal proceedings, with their subsequent parole matters. She has developed a substantial practice where she provides advice to prisoners, assists with parole applications and responds to preliminary refusals. Additionally, she provides advice in relation to parole suspensions, parole cancellations, exceptional circumstances parole and Judicial Reviews. Sam is also experienced in providing advice for prisoners captured under the ‘Restricted Prisoner Declaration’ in accordance with the Corrective Services Act 2006. Sam understands that applying for a parole order can be a stressful and confronting process. She is a strong advocate for rehabilitation and reintegration, and ensures that her clients and their families are informed of and guided through the process every step of the way.
Sam has an unwavering commitment to her clients and does what is necessary to maximise the chances of achieving the best possible outcomes.
